I am honored and thankful to have been nominated in 3 categories again this year thanks to our fans voting!! I am nominated in “Best Country Act”, “Best Live Performer”, and “Best Songwriter”. This wouldn’t have happened without a fantastic band behind me and truly dedicated fans!! The winners will be picked by a judging panel and announced at the fundraising ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Kraushaar Auditorium at Goucher College. This yearly event not only allows local talent to be formally recognized but it’s also helping to raise money for children battling cancer and all funds raised will benefit the Nicole Van Horn Foundation. Tickets go on sale in January!
We have been writing new material for months now and we’re finally ready to go in the studio and start recording album #4. Our singles “When A Good Man Dies”, “Party Hopping, and “Tonight’s The Night” will be on this album. Stay tuned for a release date later this year. Making a quality album is tedious work and takes time.
We’re excited to see where this new relationship will take us in 2015!! We’ll be working closely with Dan Zentz and Country Pride Entertainment to expand our tour and show schedule. Lots of big things in the works!! Stay tuned for announcements coming soon!!
The summer of 2014 was another great one for us, filled with lots of fun outdoor shows at fairs, festivals, and carnivals!! Our only disappointment was having to cancel our shows during CMA Music Fest due to my illness. The highlight of the summer had to be opening for the Eli Young Band at the Greencastle American Legion Picnic Grounds on August 30th to a huge crowd of enthusiastic fans!!
Time flies and I often find myself wishing for more hours in the day! It has been forever since I wrote a post here on my website! First I want to wish a Happy New Year to everyone I didn’t get to say it to in person!! You all made 2013 an awesome year for me and everyone involved with the Band!! Many great memories were made, including some fun openings for Randy Hauser and Casey James at Rams Head Live in Baltimore and Darius Rucker at House of Rock in Atlantic City!! 2014 is off to a great start with many new opportunities already opening up and exciting new clubs and events lining up. This coming weekend, Mette and I are off to Nashville for some promising music business meetings and an audition for The Voice for me. Hopefully I’m better prepared to do my part right this time! LOL! Nashville recordings of “When A Good Man Dies” and other originals we’re working on is on the list of our priorities for this spring! Stay tuned for more exciting updates very soon!!
We were honored and excited to be asked back to Rams Head Live in Baltimore, this time to open for Casey James (“Crying On A Suitcase”) on Thursday October 10th. We had an awesome crowd and had a blast! What an honor to play on that stage! After Casey’s show we got to meet him and take a few pics with him! We are very thankful to the staff and management at Rams Head Live for putting their trust in us and calling us to open for Country headliners when needed. We look forward to hopefully be working with Rams Head Live again next year!
Another summer full of great fairs and festivals has come and gone! I think we played about 20 outdoor shows this year! We had a blast playing together as a “new” band starting back in early June! Myles, Mark, Jonathan, and I were blessed to have Sean “fall in our laps” when we needed a last minute fill-in guitar player for the Codorus Blast in June. I don’t think you have all heard this story yet, so here it goes… We called the D.C. musicians’ union to find a “ringer” and got the name of Sean Pauley. Jonathan, who didn’t know Sean had moved to town, was like “No way, I grew up with that dude in WV and he’s an awesome player”! Well, Jonathan got Sean on the phone and asked him to do the gig but Sean had to decline because he had a wedding to attend that same day. Jonathan asked him where the wedding was… Sean said “Hanover, PA”…. Codorus Blast is in Hanover, PA!!!!! What are the chances of that?? Long story short, Sean accepted the gig, learned some 27 songs in less than 2 days, raced to Codorus Park after the wedding and totally impressed everyone at the show!! Things do happen for a reason and Sean joined our band after that!!
We’ve had a couple of awesome road trips together, some almost 6 hours away playing at some big fairs, all of them great fun! Needless to say, Jonathan keeps us in stitches on these trips and lots of musical details and ideas get worked out on the road!! Where’s the tour bus when you need one? LOL!
We do have one last festival coming up on October 12th and then we’re back to a full club schedule for the rest of the fall and winter! We have added a few new venues and hope to add even more for next year while continuing to play our long-time favorite venues!
One of the highlights of the summer has to be opening for Darius Rucker at the House of Blues in Atlantic City on August 10th! What an honor to get that call and to play such an awesome venue with a great artist! The only unfortunate thing was that Jonathan couldn’t make the trip with us on such short notice! Wesley Spangler filled in for us on (second) guitar and did a great job but Jonathan was missed!! What a great stage to play with an awesome sound system and an enthusiastic crowd!! We hung out in the Green Room and watched Darius Rucker’s show from above the stage and were lucky enough to chat with him a bit and have our picture taken with him after the show. Some of us stayed, partied and gambled while some of us drove home that night. All of us had an unforgettable night!!
Our short summer break is almost over and it’s time to play some Rockin’ Country Music again! The rest of the summer is full of shows and the second half of July is gonna be crazy busy, starting with a 3-day weekend!
Tomorrow, Thursday the 18th, we’ll be rocking the dock at Red Eye’s Dock Bar in Grasonville, MD. This is a great place to bring your family and friends for some free family fun by the water on Kent Narrows, just over the Bay Bridge. We play from 7 – 11 PM and the weather forecast looks hot & dry!! All ages!
Then Friday the 19th, we’re back for Country Night at Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus, MD. We play from 9:30 – 1:30 am on the stage by the outside bar/seating area and yes, they have a dance floor (under cover) so put on your cowboy boots and bring all your country music loving friends!! We had a blast last time we played here and Country Bands need your support at Fish Head!! Must be 21 & over!
Saturday the 20th we head West to our favorite honky tonk bar in Rippon (off Route 340 just South of Charles Town) – the infamous Rainbow Road where we play from 10 PM – 3 AM!! That’s right, folks – 3 AM!!! This place usually gets packed when we’re there on Saturdays and you can actually call in and reserve a table for your group, first come, first serve: 304-725-3540. If you’ve never been, this is the time to go – this nostalgic honky tonk bar filled with friendly people and a large wooden dance floor really knows how to party!! Must be 18 & over, smoker friendly, biker friendly!
Stay tuned for next week’s busy schedule…… hey, does anyone know how to do the dougie?
